In searching for that interview, I also turned up this one, in his own h2So4. The second interview covers a wider range of topics, allowing Professor Zach to respond to the question:

Why do you (on occasion) work for no money?

with:

What do you mean? I've never worked for money in my life.

Don't worry, I'm sure it will all blow over once I link to the picture of Brian Weatherson putting a gold brick through the window of a Jil Sander store in Melbourne. You won't believe how many inches of cuff he has showing...
